My favorite cover

This LIFE special edition, "To the Moon and Back," chronicles the first moon landing, brought about by the courage of the Apollo 11 astronauts and the thousands of people who supported their mission. On the cover is a picture of Buzz Aldrin, taken by fellow astronaut Neil Armstrong. Along with color photographs of this historic walk on the moon, there are biographical sketches of Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins. There is also a history of manned space exploration from the first single orbit around the earth orbit to the launch of Apollo 11.

I really like the way the reflection is framed in the astronauts helmet and the lighting and overall colors of the picture is very nice and fits the setting and feel of the image. I also like the way the designer of the cover used the black sky above him to put text. One thing I would like to  be different about this photo is the balance of the main focus of the image and the text, there should be more text of the left hand side of the astronaut.

Parts of a magazine cover

  • Selling line, article in the magazine what people will want to read.
  • Cover lines, placed around the image, information on what is in the magazine.
  • Bar codes, publication date and prize.
  • Left third, important for sales when the whole front of magazine can't be shown.
  • Main cover line, the title of the magazine.
  • Model credit, name of the model.
  • Main image, the background of the cover.
  • Date line, date the magazine was published and prize.
  • Masthead, title or logo.

Year in review

This is photo of a plane dropping fire retardents over San Macros Calif, it creates an emotion of fear an relief at the same time. The photo using rule of thirds, the plane off to the right side and balance, the flame retardent is heaviest under the plane but it's balanced out by the  mansion that is off the left.  The photo is very sharp and clear, both the plane and the background.

This is a photo of the 2014 winter Olympics, it creates a feeling of excitement. The photo uses patterns and contrast, the patterns of fireworks, short lines, and the contrast of light and dark. It's light, dark and very sharp.

This exciting and crowded picture was taken when the German soccer team arrived back to Germany after winning the world cup. It uses symmetry, the car in the middle with the team in black and the colors off all the other people surrounding them. It used light and dark, with the colors, and the whole picture is very sharp.

Favorite song of the year
Since no bands I like released songs this year I guess I'm going to have to go with Stay with me by Sam  Smith. Sam's voice sounds like what I would imagine an angel to sound like and I really enjoy his music.

Best movie of the year
Maleficent.
I didn't see many movies that came out this year but out of the ones I did see this was the most interesting and beautiully filmed.

Most important news story
The ebola break out. I think it got the most attention, especitally from people my age.

Most important person of 2014
Malala Yousafzai. She had a lot of impact this and I if important for the most important reason out of the options.

Most important sports/entertainment person of the year
Jennifer Lawence. She had a couple big hit movies that were actually good.

Something I'll remember about this holiday season
I'll remember my cousins coming in from Dallas for the weekend.

New year's revalutions
I don't have one. I wouldn't actually keep so instead of feeling bad because I can't I just didn't make one.

Im 2015 I'm looking forward to…
